all icons are now on remote S3

Posted by: kat

long time no post here! anyway just popping in to say that i've finally moved the icons (+ any uploaded non-icon images) for love4eva to a remote S3 provider. if you don't know what that means, don't worry about it. bottom line is that i cut out some software i was using to do this from home, and that software is no longer supported.

details for nerds: i was using minio, which, if you're into open source like i am, rug-pulled their licensing and open source status in december 2025. so the version i had was no longer supported for regular self-hosting nerds like me. i decided i didn't want to self-host S3 again, because minio kinda sucked, so i decided to just pay for an S3 provider.

i settled on tigris because it's one of few options i know of that aren't AWS/amazon, or absurdly expensive for my use-case. so far so good; we have like, under 500 files in the bucket for this site, so i doubt it'll cost me more than like $5 at most. but fingers crossed it stays like that.

comments
